DIVE SITE INTRODUCTION - DEEP SOUTH LINE:
Located in the southern coral reefs of the Maldives, the deep waters surrounding the area create varied currents and bring in a variety of shark species, making it a "shark kingdom." This is why divers from around the world visit from January to April, hoping to catch a glimpse of the shark storms.
- Addu is home to the only manta cleaning station in the Maldives, where manta rays can be seen all year round. Other types of sharks that can be seen here include the leopard shark, hammerhead shark, and oceanic whitetip shark, and even the whale shark.
- Fuvahmulah is a ring-shaped atoll that has more records of tiger sharks and manta rays than any other place in the Maldives. Other types of sharks that can be seen here include the leopard shark, whale shark, and hammerhead shark. If you're lucky, you might even spot a Mobula ray here!
- Huvadhoo Atoll is 65 km wide and 85 meters deep at its widest and deepest points, respectively. The atoll's lagoon has calm waters and various underwater features such as caves and cliffs.
- When diving through the channels, divers may encounter up to 300 gray reef sharks in the stronger currents of several specific northeastern channels. This area is so unique that I can't wait to tell you everything about it!
